SG Stud has a very successful foaling down operation for such a small boutique stud. We have a slighter longer season than most, running from August through to late March to cater for Sporthorse foalings. We have also been known to foal down mares that have been imported in foal from the Northern Hemisphere, so please do get in touch if you require a foaling service out of season.
When your mare arrives she will be paddocked with mares due in the same month. When she starts to foal we bring her into our foaling down area that is lit and close to all of our foaling equipment. This area is also easily accessible to our on call vet should we require veterinary assistance.
We are one of the few studs that carry our own stock of frozen colostrum, so should your mare’s colostrum immunoglobulin levels be low upon testing, we have our own to supplement your foal.
